The Great Gatsby a Great Success

Marlborough Girls' College —

There was plenty of Glitz and Glam on the red carpet at the Marlborough Convention Centre on Saturday night as approximately 500 students and staff walked in to cheers and applause from the crowd.

Hundreds of onlookers lined the Clubs of Marlborough carpark to see the students arrive for the highlight of the school social calendar, many of them in trucks, buses and fancy cars.

Renowned entertainer DJ Sir Vere made the trip across the Cook Strait to play to an enthusiastic crowd of revellers who were ready to party.

Everyone danced the night away, stopping in between for a fabulous meal and to take some fun pictures at the photo stations.

Check out photos here, here and all the red carpet pics here.  With thanks to Melanie White Creative, Ella Gregory Photography and Matthew Croad Photography for capturing these gorgeous images.

"This year's formal was a really great night!! The food and music was so good and everyone looked like they were having a blast. Massive props to the formal committee for such great organisation! So much silver, gold, white and black decorations and I think that the theme was such a fun one!! Some people even dressed up! It was so great to see the rest of Blenheim come out and watch everyone walking down the carpet. Again a massive thank you to everyone who was involved in the organisation, we all had a great time!!"

"Our Marlborough Combined Colleges formal was a night to remember. Year 12 & 13 students and staff from both schools came to celebrate in Great Gatsby style. The year's social event wasn't just about the red carpet, glamorous outfits, or spending the evening with your friends. A lot of hard work and organisation goes into making our annual formal special for those attending, and our community who love to come along and support us. We are beyond grateful for the constant support from local businesses. Our formal committee met twice a week for the last several months to ensure everything was well thought out. The night itself was super successful and showcased the efforts of all those who made the night possible".
