House Basketball 2022

Jan Gallop, Sports Coordinator —

It was all hands on deck to get more points in the House Basketball competition which kicked off in Week 2 this term.

It was great to be back inside in the gym space for a House competition over the last couple of weeks. On the line was bragging rights for basketball and the competition was divided into a Junior and a Senior competition.

In Week 2 the juniors fought it out with Kaituna defeating all the other teams (with a lot of help from star Birgitta Prescott!!!) to take the overall honours, followed by Ōpaoa with 2 wins, Awatere winning their match against Wairau and last Wairau who had a lot of fun participating.

The Senior competition in Weeks 3 & 4 was a fun, but physical event. This was a fairly even competition and the final wrap up saw a tie for first between Wairau and Awatere with 2 wins apiece, and a tie for third between Kaituna and Ōpaoa - each winning one match.

Thanks to those girls who stepped up and refereed the games and to those who supported from the sideline, contributing to a fun event.

Current House points table as at 26 May is:

  • Ōpaoa - 35
  • Wairau - 34
  • Kaituna - 32
  • Awatere - 28
