Top of the South Taekwondo Tournament

Kane Sullivan, Blenheim Olympic Taekwondo Club —

On October 22nd, Blenheim Olympic Taekwondo Club hosted the Top of the South Championships at Marlborough Lines Stadium 2000.

There were competitors from as far as Auckland and as low as Invercargill entered. It was a huge day with amazing results. We couldn't be more proud. Students from Renwick taekwondo also competed. We would love to share our students achievements with you...

Jazmine Moon - Kyrougi - Silver

From organizing and coaching our younger students and then getting back out on to the fighting mat for the first time in over 3 years. Anxious and nervous but pushing through it. A huge role model for our club!

Brooke Palmer - Kyrougi - Silver

A first tournament for Brooke and we are extremely proud of her achievements! A awesome start back at taekwondo!

Special mentions

Heidi Van Staden

Although Heidi no longer attends taekwondo she played a huge part behind the scenes leading up to and on the day. She helped teach her younger brother in poomsae which resulted in him achieving a gold medal. When it came to tournament she was there setting up and taking down, as well as gear check, handing out medals, and working with a Grand Master on sensors for the higher ranked rings. Heidi was and is a star!

Erin Josephs

Erin is from Renwick Taekwondo, and some of her crew came down to help set up for the big day. And again leading up to and on the day, an awesome role model for not only her club, but our club as well.
