Year 11 Business Entrepreneurship students developing their business skills...

On Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd March, the Year 11 Business Entrepreneurship students participated in the BP Business Challenge. Joined with Year 11 students from Marlborough Boys' College, students were put into teams of 8-10 where they had to come up with a product idea, prepare a business presentation and pitch, and then present in their teams back to six judges.

Students were developing their business skills as well as building their collaboration on confidence to work with people they did not know. Our judges were members of our business community who gave up time from their busy schedule to listen and provide feedback to each group. They thoroughly enjoyed their time with our students and commented them on pushing themselves out of their comfort zone. They encouraged them to continue developing any future business ideas and seek opportunities to practice public speaking. We thank the following judges for giving up their time.

  • Amber McNamara
  • Tracey Green
  • Rohit Girijadjaran
  • Stephen Waters
  • Aimee McIntyre
  • Alastair Schorn

The winning team was a business group called Mind Balance and a close second placing went to Bus Mates.

Student feedback has included students enjoying working with new people, and building confidence on their presentation skills and public speaking.

Overall, it was awesome seeing our rangatahi working together across both schools and making the most of the opportunities in front of them.
