Athletics Stars Shine

Marlborough Girls' College —

The Tasman Secondary Sports Championship was held on Tuesday 14 March in Nelson and the MGC team gave it their best.

A team of 27 athletes made the trip over the hill to compete in the championship, and of those 12 have qualified for the South Island Championships! An astounding success and great effort by all of our competitors. 

Congratulations to Brooke Harper who made a new Tasman Record in the U16 Shot Put of 11.76 m, beating the old record of 11.08m!

Congratulations to Isla Tilbury (Year 10) who also competed in the New Zealand Track and Field Championships, held in Wellington. Isla picked up a bronze medal in the 400m, in a time of 59.22 sec, and a fourth placing in the 800m (2.21.03). Link to the Marlborough App article.
