Manaakitanga within our School

Marlborough Girls' College —

We often focus on the achievements and academic endeavors that make MGC a great place for learning. However, it's essential to remember that our values extend to every corner of our school, including the bathrooms.

Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and behaviour in our school toilets is not just about hygiene; it's about fostering manaakitanga to our facilities and others.

1. Hauora - Hygiene and Health: Maintaining clean and hygienic bathrooms is not only a sign of respect for others but also crucial for everyone's health and well-being. A tidy environment reduces the risk of spreading germs and illnesses. The bathrooms are not a place to hang out in or eat your food in. Please find somewhere in our beautiful grounds to meet your friends during interval and lunchtime.

2. Manaakitanga : Respect for our peers extends beyond the classroom and into the hallways and bathrooms. Be considerate of those who use the facilities after you. If you notice damage or a mess please report it to a staff member.

3. Kaitiakitanga - Environmental Responsibility: A mature attitude toward our school environment also means being mindful of its sustainability. Avoid wasting resources, like excessive toilet paper, sanitary products or water, by using these resources efficiently. Every small contribution counts in making our school more eco-friendly.

4. Personal Growth: Learning to use the bathrooms respectfully and maturely is an important life skill. It is a reflection of our character and our ability to consider the needs and comfort of others. These qualities are valued not only in school but in the wider world.

Let's take pride in our school and show manaakitanga to our whānau we've built by using the toilets respectfully and maturely.

Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a positive and respectful school environment.
