Recently all Marlborough Girls’ College students had the opportunity to attend the Future of Work 2023 at the ASB Theatre and Marlborough Events Centre.

Future of Work is a one-day event especially for our young people to enjoy inspiring speakers, and the Interactive Workstation Zone to discover jobs and opportunities they may have never heard of before!

It was a huge collaborative community effort brought together by the Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough and the Marlborough District Council – with five stellar speakers, all local colleges, and over 80+ businesses and organisations pitching in to make it a successful day. The evening component of the day replaced our previous Careers Expo, and was a popular opportunity to come and hear presentations from universities around New Zealand.

Although the full evaluation process is still underway, we can report that 92% of students gave it a big thumbs-up, saying they would recommend Future of Work to others. The organisers have been flooded with positive messages about the day and even positive outcomes – including one employer who has already hired a young person in their business!
