Fun with Foley

Marlborough Girls' College —

Year 9 and 10 students in Music have been exploring the art of foley and movie music creating some fantastic creations.

So what is Foley?

Foley is the technique movie makers use to record audio and sync it to the on-screen action. It helps bring the soundscape alive. The sound of breaking bones, creaking doors, squeaking steps, bodies falling and basically any other sound you can imagine that is not talking or music - that is Foley!

It has involved using elements of nature and abnormal objects to create ‘everyday sounds’ and their knowledge of musical emotion to match the picture on the screen.
