Marlborough Four Paws
Year 10 student, Cat Forsyth, volunteers for Marlborough Four Paws and would like to spread awareness about this organisation.
Marlborough Four Paws was established in 2017 with the goal of providing welfare to animals in need. With the support of our dedicated community, we aim to reduce animal suffering, protect local bird life and mitigate the spread of animal disease by preventing the birth of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. We do this by rescuing, desexing and rehoming unwanted, abandoned and stray cats and kittens.
Marlborough Four Paws is run entirely by volunteers and we rely on donations from our generous local community to continue the work we do. Other authorities have been turning cats and dogs in to Marlborough Four Paws for a long time now, putting a massive pressure on the shelter.
Unfortunately, as of the 3rd of April, due to overcrowding and massive bills, we were forced to start turning away animals. It broke our hearts every time we had to say ‘No’ to a cat or dog, knowing that they may end up back on the streets, or put down.
Our shelter can hold a maximum of 110 cats and kittens, and currently, we have over 150 cats and 14 dogs in our care, spread throughout facilities and foster homes.
We are currently lacking the time, volunteers, and fundraising to continue at this pace. We will continue to look after the animals in our care, but we are sinking.
We are hoping to host some adoption events soon, for which you may see posters around school or town, with pictures of the many cats available.
If you would like to volunteer for Marlborough Four Paws, or donate towards our animal rescue efforts, we'd love your support.
