Maddy Sinclair is the 2023 National Woman's Sport CX Champion

The Cycling New Zealand Cyclocross (CX) Championships were held over last weekend at the Kart Sport Track in Christchurch.  CX is a form of bike racing. Races typically take place in the autumn and winter, and consist of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount. The track at the weekend featured a sandpit, a mud bog, logs across the track, stairs and a loop of the Kart race track.

Maddy raced in the Womans Sport category (Woman’s Sport features riders from the U19 to U29 age categories) and came away with the win, becoming the Woman’s Sport CX National Champion.

This adds to her national title this year in Cross Country Mountain biking in the same category.
