Supporting Hauora

Mary-Jeanne Lynch —

This is Hauora Week when we highlight our focus on addressing rangatahi wellbeing and mental health.

Every young person is precious and we have been saddened by the recent deaths of a number of students in our community. Our care and support for rangatahi is directed by our school values of Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga and Kotahitanga.

This means we continue our focus on

  • Building belonging at school - Kotahitanga
  • Equipping everyone to have healthy relationships - Whanaungatanga
  • Encouraging people to seek and offer help - Manaakitanga

Our Hauora Manutaki have put together a great programme of activities for this week, as seen above, to complement our weekly Hauora Programme.

We also have a pastoral care and guidance team of Whānau Teachers, Deans, Counsellors and an Educational Psychologist who care and help behind the scenes. Our messages this week and this year are about holding onto hope and seeking help to get through the tough times.

We can't do this on our own and we thank parents, whānau and organisations outside of school who continue to help us ensure our rangatahi are cared for, supported and safe.

Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui
