Students from Flight, Earth & Beyond and Need for Speed classes were given the opportunity to take flight on Friday 17th November as part of the Rocket Challenge.

They used their knowledge of physics to design bottle rockets, aiming to achieve the longest flight on the field. Students followed the Engineering Design Process to refine their Rocket design through the day, with expert input from local engineers Sarah McLean (ex-MGC) and Diana DeZwart. The best designs improved from distances just over 30meters in initial launches to over 50m in their final flights.

When sharing her Rocket Challenge experience in a recent assembly Alice Mundy (Yr 10) described the day as 'fun', and encouraged other students to give it a go!
