Year 10 Adventure Marlborough Momorangi Camp

Marlborough Girls' College —

When we sit and speak of all the beautiful places to be, I can assure you that the Y10 Momorangi camp was in the top spot!

It was a great day at school before getting ready with the carefully planned packs and foodstuffs for the overnight, the tents and cooking over 21st century campfires - trusty gas burners!

We had a blast down at the beachfront before we headed out with the torches and some warm clothing to hunt out the glow worms. It was just like Christmas with the lights thick along the banks which were just stunning.

It was a good sleep - for most - followed by a cooked breakfast with many different foods on the menu before packing up. Then started the real challenge of the 15 km walk taking 5.5 hours along a great track with spectacular views. The legs and the shoulders were screaming but nothing a good bath and sleep didn't fix - then we turned up at school richer and wiser for the experience.

Thank you to the great students and support staff, and Ian Thomas and Emily Page for opening the great outdoors on our back door step to us.
