NZQA Derived Grades
Well done to our students who prepared and sat for the prelim exams that ran earlier this term! These practice assessments were an opportunity for students to get valuable feedback, and they also meant derived grades could then be sent through to NZQA.
Derived grades are evidence-based grades that may be awarded to students when they can’t attend a final exam. Common reasons why students may apply for derived grades include
A temporary acute illness or injury
A significantly disturbing experience
Derived grades could not be recorded for students who did not sit a scheduled prelim exam or the following catch-up sessions.
