The Junior A Volleyball team has wrapped up a busy and successful season, demonstrating great dedication, skill development, and team spirit.

 Season Highlights

Training hard since the end of Term Three, the team competed in three major tournaments this term:

• The Roy Titheridge tournament in Blenheim.

• The Tasman competition in Nelson.

• The Canterbury Eastern Volleyball tournament in Christchurch.

The team achieved a respectable 6th seed in the Tasman region, which set the stage for a challenging run in the Canterbury tournament. Despite facing some tough opposition, our girls' determination shone through.

The final was a true "battle of the Tasman"! The MGC Junior A team had previously secured a win against Garin College in the earlier Nelson tournament, making their final clash in Christchurch a high stakes final match. Our girls came away with 2nd place in the Division Two final, only narrowly missing out on the win to Garin.

A special acknowledgement must go to our incredible student coaches from the MGC Senior A team:

• Birgitta Prescott (Year 13)

• Jessica Curzon (Year 12)

• Abigail Credo (Year 12)

We are incredibly proud that MGC was the only school to have student coaches accompanying their team to all three tournaments. This is a powerful testament to the MGC students' spirit of service and commitment to our kura.

Throughout the season, the Junior A team showed significant development in their volleyball skills. More importantly, they consistently worked together, embodying the values of kotahitanga and whanaungatanga as a team.

Looking ahead to 2026, some of our talented players will be moving up to the Senior A and B Volleyball squads, where they will continue to develop their skills and passion for the game.
