Celebrations & Book Reviews

Marlborough Girls' College —

This week we held an end of year celebration for our student Librarians, and to say goodbye to our year 13 leaders Aria Millen and Sylvie Crowe.

Our Student Librarians make a valuable contribution to the school. They look after our book shelving and book covering in the Library, help with promotional activities and serve at the circulation desk during lunch. It’s a big commitment of time but frees Library staff up to work with students.

We also have a lot of fun, and the students share our love of books. This year we have had 30 students helping, ranging from year 10 to 13. We thank the team for all their help.

Our students have an endearing love of laminating as a task and subsequently the Laminator,  which they have named Kyle. In honor of this standing joke, Year 12 Librarian Emily Harper created a cake in honour of Kyle to share at our morning tea. And as extra humour, here is a snippet from the paper the ‘Kyle cake’ was laminating (penned by Emily).

Book Review by Kyle the Laminator.

Today’s book is 'Laminating for Laminators'

“Thrilling, enticing and entertaining” were Kyle’s words on the world acclaimed 'Laminating for Laminators' by Susie Goodshaw. “This book is a masterpiece,” he says. “I learned so much more about how I operate, and how the paper will feel about being placed in wonky. It will make it feel sad, so I must be sure to always maintain good paper posture. I will recommend this book to all the Librarians. It is truly a great read and will tell you so much more about the true feelings and purpose of the laminators.”

This book has been awarded multiple prizes as well as achieving 'The Kyle Times Bestseller' status. Give it a read today! Only in the imaginary Kyle library.
