Bringing Joy and Connection Through Devonshire Tea - Seniors Day Out

In a heartwarming initiative, MGC’s Cuisine Class recently hosted a Seniors Day Out event, treating residents from a local rest home to a delightful Devonshire Tea. This event celebrated community connection, with students showcasing their culinary skills while providing an afternoon of entertainment, hospitality, and care.

The event, held on the 26th of November, began with a warm invitation extended to the rest home residents, and the response was enthusiastic. The students prepared classic Devonshire Tea, featuring freshly baked scones paired with cream and jam, served in a welcoming setting.

Beyond the delicious treats, the event included engaging presentations and entertainment thoughtfully organised by the students. The collaborative effort left a lasting impression on the guests, who expressed their appreciation for the experience. One attendee remarked, “The presentations, entertainment, and the whole team were absolutely amazing. Our residents loved it, and I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful job your team has done.”

The Seniors Day Out exemplified the power of service learning by combining student skill development with meaningful community engagement. Events like this not only bring joy to participants but also provide students with valuable opportunities to connect with and contribute to their community.

MGC is grateful to everyone who attended and participated in making the day so memorable. We look forward to hosting more events that foster connection and celebrate the spirit of giving back.
