Duke Of Edinburgh
Tramping the Te Hoiere/Pelorus Track
This past weekend, the four of us spent three days tramping along the beautiful Te Hoiere/Pelorus tracks, following the stunning emerald green river. The tramp is the adventurous part of our Silver Duke of Edinburgh Journey.
This is an exciting award programme which allows students to give back to the community, practice their skills, and keep active with sport.
Our journey began on a fresh Saturday morning when we tramped past the emerald pools, 14km to Middy Creek Hut. The next day we went on a day trip up to Rocks Hut and then back down to stay another night at Middy Creek. In the morning we headed back home.
Throughout the tramp we met nice people, spotted a few goats and piwakawaka, drank hot chocolate by the fire, saw some spectacular views and made lasting memories.
A big thank you to Ms Smith for organising and taking us on our tramp.
