Flu vaccinations

School Nurses —

The influenza vaccine does not protect against COVID 19 however it will prevent illness and reduce the pressure this places on health services each year.

Flu vaccines are currently only available to those who are eligible, these include:

• People aged 65 and over, pregnant women, people with certain chronic conditions and young children with a history of severe respiratory illness

• Healthcare and other frontline workers, which includes emergency services, social services, police, defence, and border control but not supermarket workers.

Flu vaccinations for people in the priority groups are available at your GP or pharmacy NOW.

People who are not eligible for free vaccination are asked to wait. At this stage, it is likely to be available by the end of April.
