INTRODUCING - ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - JEN TRIGGS

Elaine Curtis —

Having been born and raised in the local community, West Auckland is where my heart lies - nowhere in the world compares to the black sands of Bethells and the greenery of the Waitakere Ranges.

I went to Waitakere Primary followed by Waitakere College. I received an excellent education from both these schools.

Having been involved in Girl Guiding since the age of 9, first as a girl guide and then as a leader, working with young people to experience the most out of life has always been my purpose.

From school I went to the University of Auckland where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in History and Mathematics, followed by Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education. From there I joined the Massey High School family in 2006 and haven’t looked back.

During my time at Massey I have been a teacher, tutor, Year 9 Level-Coordinator, Assistant Head of Mathematics, and am now an Assistant Principal.

My portfolios involve:

Student Achievement and Attainment

Ensuring that all our students have the highest qualification they can achieve in order to open every door to them as they take their next step in education,

Curriculum/Timetabling

Working with the NZQA guidelines.

In 2014 I gained my Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership with Distinction, primarily focusing on educational change, e-learning and effective leadership. I firmly believe that every student is entitled to the best education they can receive as they only attend that year, that course, that class, that lesson, just once.

My vision for education is “to ensure every student who leaves Massey High School has the highest qualification they can achieve, with a clear vision as to their next step in their educational life journey.”

When not at school my life revolves around my 2 boys aged 8 and 11, primarily being a chauffeur to their multiple Football games and trainings.
