PAST STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT - PETER DINGLE

Anna North —

The University of Auckland - 40 under 40

The University of Auckland has released its annual list of 40 exceptional graduates under the age of 40.

We are pleased to advise that one of these outstanding individuals is a former pupil of Massey High school: Peter Dingle, Head of Innovation, RBWM Digital – HSBC.

Peter is a High Tech Entrepreneur, Investor, CEO Coach & Mentor based in Hong Kong.

Attending Massey High, Peter was a keen sportsman but instead of rugby, was interested in martial arts and unusually, ice hockey where he eventually gained selection for a New Zealand under 21 side that toured in 1997.

After a gap year playing ice-hockey in Canada, Peter returned to New Zealand and enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland.

After a 15-year career with Intel, the world’s leading semiconductor manufacturer, Peter created the Hong Kong-based Corporate Innovation Accelerators that launched 75 new High technology Startups into funding rounds across multiple industries.

In 2018 he was appointed Head of Innovation for HSBC Retail Banking and Wealth Management, a role in which he is particularly focussed on how new technologies can revolutionise the banking industry.

The annual 40 under 40 list recognises that many of the highest achievers produced by the University of Auckland are making huge contributions be it to business, technology or a social good before the age of 40.

It is quite an achievement to be recognised on the list given the University of Auckland graduates some 10,000 students each year.

We hope that the inclusion of Peter on the 40 Under 40 list is an inspiration to your students, and we welcome you to share this news with your school community. We have also supplied an image and article about Peter for your use.
