HEALTH CENTRE NEWS

Health Centre —

Welcome to all new families at Massey High School from your Health Centre Nurse Team Ruth, Tracy, Jeanette and Sue.

Year 9 students will be individually offered a health assessment (HEEADSS assessment) at some point during the year, conducted by one of the registered nurses at the school. The objective of this assessment with the student, is to support early detection of vision, hearing, health and behaviour issues. We identify the student’s strengths, and also provide any information for issues they may be dealing with. The assessment is a great opportunity for us to meet the students and let them know the general support services available. Some identified students in Years 10-13 will also be offered this assessment but it is not routinely done in these year groups.

We use a framework called HEEADSS, which is a widely utilised model in adolescent interviewing. If you would like to know more about this framework, or to opt out of this service please do not hesitate to contact us.

Also, a reminder to please keep contact details up to date with the school, and to inform the health centre of any additional medical information or requirements for the student.

Regards,

The Nurse Team
