Academy News —

Academy Prefects and Stars awarded Term 2, 2020.

The academies are off to a great restart in Term 2 2020 and are very proud to announce the appointment of two Academy Gold Badge Prefects for the year: Jayden Alesich 13HSD and Ranaa Roshan 13KGU.

Ranaa is in the Tourism Academy and has done exceptionally well in her course. She is an outstanding leader and is always on hand to help others out and plan ahead. She is looking forward to seeing the recovery of domestic tourism and the extra boost that we will get when the trans-Tasman bubble opens up later this year.

Jayden is heavily involved with the Radio Academy and station at Massey High School. He will be completing a Level 4 course at Whitireia, (NZ Radio School), this year and he regularly takes command of the media demands during presentations in the Bruce Ritchie Performing Arts Centre.

Also awarded just before lockdown, were the first Academy Stars, for 2020. These are students who have excelled in their academy vocational area and are forging ahead with their vocational skills and gaining credits in their academy for their NCEA 2020.

Café management:

For excellent work and co-operation during the absence of the café manager.

Level 3 Teana Pomare 12TFM and Makaila Robertson 13TJM - Application to work at a very high level. Excellent time management and focus. Supporting others in the class. Child Journals at a high standard.

Level 3 ext Rebekah Viliamu 13KBC - Working diligently at tasks set and showing support to others. Child Journal at a pleasing standard.

Hospitality Academy.

Edward Pootinun 13TMS - For starting the year so focused and motivated.

Deven Crowther 13TMF - For working independently and methodically.

Fashion Academy.

Level 2: Mikhayla Maclean 11TME - For being super proactive with her tasks and for her awesome input in class discussions.

Level 2: Tagisia Kilei 12TFM - For bringing an excellent attitude to class every day and already sewing like a professional.

Building Academy.

Tyrese Pearson Kelston Deaf Education Centre - For working really hard, always being on task and getting things done.
