STUDENT SUCCESS - Waikato Culinary Fare

Delint Ngaue —

Congratulations to all our students who participated in this competition. Results are as follows

At the end of Term Two, 22 of our Hospitality Academy students plus three staff members spent two nights in Hamilton preparing and taking part in the Waikato Culinary Fair Competition.

This event is an opportunity to showcase our hospitality skills‚ and the true meaning of the event is about providing a culinary competition platform for secondary school and tertiary students to show their practical skills and knowledge in a way that demonstrates their creativity‚ innovation and flair.

The students worked extremely hard in to the night, perfecting their techniques and the results were outstanding with 16 medals awarded.  A special mention must also go to Zavier Cunningham (12HCB) who came second overall in his class with twenty entries plus Samuel Sukanatabua (12MMT) and Theresa Pama (13KVE), who both came third overall in their respective classes out of over eighty entries!

All our 22 students did a fantastic job, never easy with everyone watching including the judges and we are very proud of you all. The student entries represent the skills learnt by our academy students and the winning dishes make for mouth-watering reading.

The school is very proud of you all. Many thanks to the staff, Nyla Hanson, Delint Ngaue and Jenni Douglas, who made this possible.
