SCHOOL BALL

Anna North —

For our senior students, the Ball represents a significant event in their school year. This is particularly true for our Year 13 students.

Massey High School places the utmost importance on our senior students being able to attend this major social event that has been shaped with significant student input.

The date of the Ball is currently set down for Thursday 8th October (all going well, Auckland should be at Alert Level 1 by that date). In light of the announcement on Monday, we have made the decision to proceed with this date with a view to final confirmation being communicated on Monday 5th October.

Should a move to Alert Level 1 (and no limit on gathering size) for Wednesday 7th October be announced on Monday 5th October, confirmation of the original date will be communicated immediately afterward – this communication will be sent via the following means:

  • Newsletter to parents/caregiver;
  • Update on Massey High School facebook page;
  • Email confirmation to student email addresses (for those attending);
  • Alert notification on Massey High School website; and
  • Announcement on TEAMS for all attending students

Should the announcement be made on Monday 5th October that Auckland is to remain at level 2, the ball will not be able to proceed on the original date (due to gatherings being limited to 100). Confirmation of a move to a reserve date will be made using the same channels as above.

Whilst far from ideal, this most extra-ordinary year has meant that we have had to be adaptable with our teaching and learning, and sports – the Ball is another even which calls for adaptability. As mentioned above, we feel it important to have measures in place to ensure that our students have every chance of attending what for many will be their final school ball.

In any event – tickets will be issued to students this week – should the ball need to be moved to the reserve date, those tickets issued will remain valid.
