It is with pride and pleasure that the family share with us that Anita Schwabe was awarded the NZ Jazz Composer/Recording Artist Award for 2018. 

 Anita was at Massey High School in the early 1980's and under Julie Mason's guidance led a jazz combo called "Pastel Jazz" to win the hot competition at the Tauranga Jazz Festival Youth Section in her last year at school. 

She played piano for the NZ Secondary Schools' Orchestra also, then went on to study jazz in Wellington, Boston, The Netherlands and Banff. She eventually completed her B.Mus with Hons at Massey University in Wellington while bringing up a family of three and has for many years played in the Wellington Jazz Orchestra under Rodger Fox. This group has played and recorded in USA several times and she has been privileged to perform with many overseas artists over the last thirty years. 

Anita has been a very hard-working musician and music teacher. She launches her first CD in Wellington on Friday.
