LEVEL 3 UPDATE FROM MASSEY HIGH SCHOOL

Elaine Curtis —

Friday 14 August @ 1.30pm

As you are aware, the number of COVID cases in Auckland, whilst linked, have continued to rise over the past two days.

Whilst Alert Level 3 until midnight Friday 14th August was a precautionary response to evidence of community transmission, Massey High School feel that the likelihood of Auckland moving to Alert Level 2 is diminishing. Accordingly, we have been preparing for the likelihood of our students re-engaging with online instruction from Monday 17th August.

Thursday saw the commencement of distribution of a large number of laptops to families, this will continue through the course of today. We would request that you monitor emails/cellphones regularly for further information in this regard. We are also sending hard copy materials by courier to a large number of families. Instructions for use will be regularly updated on our school website.

We have been overwhelmed by our community response, particularly by those families that have advised that they have now purchased their own laptops – enabling us to reassign to other students in need.

Detailed instructions around what online learning will look like will be sent to all parents following the Government press conference this evening. Similarly, should it eventuate that an extended period of online learning is required – we will be updating information around student access to Guidance Counsellors, SENCO support, and remote clinics being provided by our school based nurses.

We would request that our students regularly monitor their school email addresses for specific instructions/advice from their subject teachers.
