INTRODUCING - DEPUTY PRINCIPAL - MR COLIN RISEBOROUGH

Elaine Curtis —

Colin has been at Massey High School since 2001, after a teaching career starting at Birkdale College in 1973 (now called Birkenhead College), then Henderson High School, Queen Charlotte College in the South Island, Napier Boys High School, and a brief stint at Kelston Boys High School.

After majoring in Applied Mathematics at Auckland University, and completing teacher training at Auckland Secondary Teachers’ College, Colin began his teaching in both Science and Mathematics. He then specialised in the teaching of Mathematics and worked in various positions at different schools over the years including Head of Department, Dean, Curriculum Leader, Senior Master, and Assistant Principal.

"Without a doubt Massey High School is the best school he has worked in by far", is what Colin stated recently. He considers it a great privilege to be working in the field of education which he sees as the key ingredient to building productive and prosperous communities based on respect and service to others, through equipping young people with the knowledge and understanding and skills to fulfil the many roles essential to the benefit of their families and communities.

Colin is an occasional bus driver for the 1st XV and other groups, and enjoys all sport, motorhome holidays, playing the guitar and piano (basic) and family time. Colin and his wife Dene have 3 grown-up children, all involved in education, and 3 grandchildren all under 5.
