Today, we begin to profile our Gold Badge Prefect team, starting with our Head Girl, Janneke.

Each Gold Badge Prefect was asked questions about their career at Massey High School, their goals for their positions and their future ambitions. Here is what Janneke had to say.

Janneke's vision for this position is:

I would like to help motivate students to have the most positive experience possible at school by having them actively involved in the school, passionate about what they are learning, and having a long term goal or career path they are trying to work towards. I hope that this will help improve students attendance and academic performance, as well as helping them prepare for the what they would like to do after school.

What do you enjoy most about MHS?

I really enjoy learning about subjects that I am interested in and gaining knowledge in the areas which I would like to pursue after school. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and fun lunchtime activities such as table tennis. 

What motivates you?

I am motivated by having a clear goal of where I would like to be once I complete Year 13 and having the support of my family, friends and teachers helping me on my path to achieve what I have set out for myself. I also have a strong interest and passion in what I am learning which further motivates me to strive for excellence to do my best at any task. 

Janneke has clear goals for her future, which are extremely inspirational:

I would like to gain NCEA level 3 endorsed with excellence and achieve a rank score which will enable me to go to university and study in the medical area. I also would like to have a positive impact on the school and fulfil the role of being a head girl to the best of my ability. My other goals are to join the Bethells voluntary Fire brigade and train to become a fire fighter next year, and lastly learn a new language (French.)

What is your greatest achievement to date?Being chosen as the Head girl for Massey high school is the greatest achievement for me because it is such an honourable position which I feel truly humbled and excited to be chosen for.
