Congratulations to Alan Motufoua (Arts Prefect 2017) for gaining Scholarship Music.

The Music Department offers our warmest congratulations to Alan Motufoua who gained an NCEA Scholarship in Music in the 2017 end of year examinations. Alan entered scholarship as a performer and submitted a 15 minute performance of his guitar playing, along with a 3000 word essay about his approach to performance. In addition he sat the 3 hour examination in the analysis of unprepared music from written scores spanning the whole of western music history. Alan was in the top 2% of those who sat the scholarship examination in Music. We are very proud of this crowning achievement and of his many achievements during his time at Massey High School. He was a wonderful Arts Leader and won the Colleen Cameron Cup for overall Excellence and Contribution to Music over his five years at Massey High School. Alan has been accepted for a degree in performance music at the University of Auckland, which he is very much looking forward to.

Alan is not only a phenomenal performer but he is an outstanding human being who is always prepared to go the extra mile for others. We wish him every success in the coming years and will miss him dearly.
