As you may be aware, the PPTA has reached a settlement with respect to the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement and will be bringing this to PPTA members of West Auckland Secondary Schools’ at a meeting on Monday 24 June 1.30pm to be held at the Church Unlimited, Glendene.

The Secretary for Education has approved special meetings throughout New Zealand, under her authority in order to facilitate voting on the settlement before the end of this term. The normal 14 days’ notice has been waved to facilitate this. I appreciate that this is a short period of notice but it recognises the importance of the meetings and of the need to complete them this term.

To this end Massey High School will be closed at 12noon on Monday 24 June. Buses will run at this time, except for the MOE shared buses, which will run at the usual time.

Please note that this is not a stop work meeting but is an entitlement under the Secondary Teachers' Collective Employment Agreement.

Any students who wish to remain at school will be supervised and they will be required to meet in the library at 1pm with study materials.
