MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL - GLEN DENHAM

Glen Denham —

Kia Ora All

Many thanks for all of your support over this first term. As you all know, we had the saddest start to the year with the passing of two fantastic young men. Our students were magnificent during this time. I also want to thank the staff and the community at large who all responded with understanding, empathy and love. Thank you.

I am delighted to report back to you that our Academic results this year have been the best in school history. Our ranking with decile 4 – 7 schools shows us to be well above national averages and our results align themselves with decile 8 and above schools. This is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the efforts of our students and parents. I think being a teacher is a huge honour and a vocation rather than a job. Working with our students and watching terrific teachers guide them is a real privilege for me.

I reiterate to you that “Seeking The Heights” is not just our school motto. We must go above and beyond expectations that the Government has for us and that of the universities and employers have.

It is imperative that we narrow the gap between the achievement of private schools and our students. Our results show that we are making ground. I have had outstanding feedback from a huge number of people and organisations that meet our students. Auckland University reported back to us that of 87% of students that applied to the University were accepted.

People and organisations always comment on the uniform and how smart they present themselves, but more importantly they comment on the excellent character, friendliness and hard work of your children, our children.

We will continue to work hard with our students to make sure that they get everything that they need to exceed expectations. Like you, we believe that they deserve to have the best jobs and the best lives moving forward.

We can all be very proud of the people that our students are and who they are becoming. Changing the World starts here.
