Elaine Curtis - November 17, 2017
The Peel Award – for the Proxime Accessit
This award was presented by: Dr. Smith & Mr. Jones
Cameron received $250 which was donated by Craig Walker Building Removals Ltd
Cameron is certainly not the embodiment of the quiet achiever. Whilst he performs at the highest level academically he is also outgoing, confident and personable. He is a supremely talented musician and passionate performer. Cameron in full flight on guitar is a rewarding listen and a sight to behold.
He has approached all of his subjects with relish in the time that he has been at Massey High School. He gained his NCEA Levels 1 and 2 Certificates with Excellence Endorsement, including a number of individual subject Excellence Endorsements.
Indeed, as a Year 12 student last year he gained Excellence Endorsements in Level 3 Calculus together with an NZQA Scholarship and Merit Endorsements in Level 3 English and Physics, on his way to being named as the top student in Year 12.
He has already amassed 106 Level 3 credits with 84 of those at Excellence level. This year Cameron will undertake a further six Scholarship Examinations.
This year he has redefined the role of Academic Leader, being pivotal in bringing real student voice to the table with his insights into teaching and learning, leaving big shoes for his successor to fill.
Cameron will no doubt continue in the same vain at the University of Auckland where he plans to study a conjoint degree in Engineering and Science.
We congratulate him on being Proxime Accessit for 2017 and wish him all the best for his future.
