INTRODUCING - ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - HAYLEY GARRATT

Elaine Curtis —

Hayley was born in Bristol in the South West of England and came to New Zealand with her two small children in 2011. She gained a BA (Hons) degree in History and English from the University of Lancashire, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Bristol and the National Professional Qualification for Headship.

Her teaching career began in the coastal town of Ilfracombe in North Devon and has taken her to Yorkshire, back to Bristol and from there to New Zealand. In the UK she had leadership roles at Department and Faculty level, before becoming an Assistant Principal of a large city school in Bristol. Hayley has been at Massey High School since 2014, joining the Strategic Leadership Team in 2017.

Hayley believes that every student deserves the very best teaching through a knowledge rich curriculum so that they are equipped to compete for places in top universities and the world of work. Massey High School is by far the best and most welcoming school that she has had the privilege of working in.

She lives in Huapai with her two daughters, both of whom will be attending MHS in the near future.
