PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Maungaraki School —

Welcome back

Kia Ora,

It is good to be back.

I hope you are all well and coping after our latest lockdown. These lockdowns can be a challenging time for families and especially children. Please do reach out if you are in need of support, we are here to help where we can. Thank you so much for your support through our online teaching programmes. Balancing work, home life and teaching your children is a huge ask and we are very thankful for the way you have done this. We feel very lucky to be a part of the community.

Today the children came back into school, smiles (and some masks) on their faces. They all settled well into classroom programmes and were extremely pleased to be catching up with their friends. As I popped around the classrooms and the playground it struck me how much joy and life the children bring to the school. Their resilience and positive energy in times like these is so refreshing.

I would like to extend a massive thank you for the incredible efforts the staff have gone to over the last few weeks. They have each had to balance their own home life and the stress that came with teaching remotely. As a team they each stepped forward in a wide range of ways and made sure that the children in our community had an amazing experience during lockdown. Thank you for being amazing people who step forward and care, your actions can be summed up simply in this short whakataukī,

Manaaki Whenua, Manaaki Tangata, Haere whakamua
Care for the land, Care for the people, Go forward

I am especially proud to be a part of our team and community.
