Maungaraki School —

Term 1

GUMBOOT FRIDAY

Tomorrow, the 5th of April, Maungaraki School will be taking part in Gumboot Friday to help raise awareness for children's mental wellbeing. So rain or shine, we would love to see you rocking your gumboots and bring along a gold coin to donate (if you can). All funds raised on the day will help provide free counselling to kids who need it.

Gumboot Friday is a new initiative by New Zealander of the Year, Mike King, and I Am Hope. They're aiming to raise $2million for kids who need some mental health support. You can find out more about Gumboot Friday at www.iamhope.org.nz/gumbootfriday

Please encourage your friends, family and community to #GumbootUpNZ on 5 April!  Many thanks for your support! Let’s Gumboot Up, Maungaraki!

HOUSE DAY

Maungaraki School will be holding our termly House Day on Thursday 11th of April. This term we are focusing on expanding our understanding of a range of cultures. Each child will participate in a workshop about music, drama, dance and visual arts with other members of their house. Please wear your house colour to build your house spirit. Children will begin and end the day in their own class.

BOOK FAIR

A huge thank you to everyone who visited our Book Fair last week.  Our goal was to sell 250 books (not including pens or diaries) and we sold over 350, what a success!  The commission we get from these sales will be used to update our library books and get all the children's favourite collections in.

We are very lucky to have such wonderful support from the families and to see the excitement on the children faces.  Thanks again and enjoy your new books!

Jen Long and Julz.
