PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Well done to our amazing athletes

Kia ora e te whānau,

Wow, what a marvellous snap of weather we have had - the sun has been out and the kids have been loving it.

We have some amazing athletes here at Maungaraki School. I have been lucky enough to see some of them in action over the last two weeks.

Our best swimmers were on show last week, and represented Maungaraki School wonderfully. They competed hard and as a school we had some excellent achievements.

We also had our RIPPA rugby team represent our school and the Wellington region last week. This team was AMAZING! They won three games against the best teams from across the country. No other team from Wellington had ever been able to win one game in this competition, let alone three. This was a huge effort from the team - WAY TO GO! Special thanks to Richard, Corey and Naomi who put so much energy into coaching this team over the last months.

As well as this we had our Year 6 football team take on Eastern Hutt School and Normandale School (thanks to John L for coaching), teams of students battle it out in a Table Tennis tournament, the Miniball competition continue as well as our Netball prize-giving. Sport is certainly alive and well at Maungaraki School.

I would like to take some time to thank all the parents and supporters that support Maungaraki School in sporting arenas. We have an amazing group of parents who give up their time and energy to coach and support Maungaraki School teams each week. This is a tough and demanding role and one we really do appreciate. It is always a huge boost for our students to have our coaches working with them and for them to see so many people wishing them well as they strive to be their best. Thank you so much, our students are lucky to have you.

Our chocolate fundraiser is drawing to a close and almost all of our boxes have gone out to be sold - an amazing effort. Please do get your money back into the school as soon as you can. We will be announcing the prize winners at next weeks assembly. All of the money we raise will go directly into providing some shade around our school. We have been meeting with sunshade companies and are looking at some great places to put shade in as the summer terms approach.

Until next time, be your best!
Nga Mihi Nui,

Shane Robinson
