PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Maungaraki School —

Enjoying activities across the syndicates

Kia Ora,

The end of the year is approaching, however the school shows no signs of slowing down yet.  It has been great to see the kids enjoying some extremely rich learning activities at this stage of the year.

The Tipu team have been out and about filming movies this week. This has involved some exciting green screen action, some incredible acting as well as some extremely realistic make up. It has been neat to see the way the children have used technology and their environment to create some awesome stories.

This week the Fern team put on an incredible performance over at the church. Through four shows the whole team pulled together to deliver a very entertaining and interesting show. The children were front and centre, planning, writing, designing, singing, acting, dancing and so much more. Using each of their individual talents they were able to put on the show to an extremely high level. A massive thank you to all of the helpers at home that made this event a success, your help was vital.

This week our Kākano team have been a part of a 'School Swap' with Normandale School. This has seen children from both schools trade places and enjoy some of the experiences the other school has to offer. It has been wonderful to see the way our children have welcomed our guests and played with them.

In the Koru team science has been in the spotlight. Experiments and scientific investigations have been taking place and the classrooms are looking incredible. Some of the experiments have to be seen and smelled to be believed. The team are excited to share their findings from these investigations next week.

Some of our Year 5 & 6 students had a Cricket Challenge this week with our hill neighbours Kelson School. It was excellent to get out and swing the willow with both sides having a blast. Good sportsmanship was shown by both teams, Kelson taking out a very tight win.

All of these events do not happen without a totally committed and passionate staff. They have worked tirelessly this year and as you can see, continue to do so. We are truly fortunate to have such an amazingly dedicated team of professionals working alongside our children. They care deeply about children, have dedication to their wellbeing and are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty time and time again. These special people work tirelessly to make Maungaraki School a special place to grow and learn. Thank you staff - your hard work is appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you at our Christmas singing next Tuesday night, fingers crossed for some more good weather.  Until next time, be your best!

Nga Mihi Nui,
