Maungaraki School —

Bike Track

Kia ora Whānau

There is a lot of change afoot at school at the moment and although the current disruption to our outside spaces is being felt, we know the inconvenience will be worth it when we are able to access our new spaces. Within the next 2-3 weeks things should start to open up and we will be able to enjoy the huge efforts that so many of our staff and community have put into our Kura.

If you have visited school in the last week you will see that the bike track is underway and progressing quickly. We are in the process of putting a system in place to ensure that the bike track is safe and works well. More information to follow about this.

The Library is so close to being operational. We are currently working through a small list of items to be completed before the Ministry of Education can hand the building over to us. I am hopeful that this will happen at the end of next week.

We will be having Parent Learning conversations on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th of April to discuss goals and to share examples of your child's work with you. We will be launching the next phase of the Hero app in the coming weeks. The Learning Conversations will allow us to talk through these changes to ensure you are able to connect to this way of reporting.

Friday 17th March is Wacky Hair Day – We are asking tamariki to come along with a wacky hair do and a gold coin donation. We will be donating the money to the Hawkes Bay Mayoral Relief Fund to assist with the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle. We contemplated donating to a school but feel that the Mayoral fund will direct the money where it is needed.

The Bee Healthy dental van was booked to come up in March, but unfortunately due to delays with the car park build it does not look like this is can go ahead. We are trying to reschedule and organise a suitable place for them to park and will update you once we have a new set of dates. We are aware that some of our students have not been seen by the dental van in over a year and ask that if you do have concerns about your child’s dental health, that you please contact Bee Healthy Regional Dental Service directly on 0800 825 583.

The Maungaraki Community Association will be having an open day on the 25 March. We hope to share more details with you on this event in the coming weeks.
