Term 2 Season

TINIBALL - MINIBALL - BASKETBALL

The Term 2 season has come to a close and what a season our Maungaraki teams had! It's so great to see the children out there having fun, developing their skills, giving new things a go, and representing the school with pride. A special mention to the Maungaraki Spurs and Maungaraki Ballers (formerly known as the Warriors) that won their respective grades! See below for student celebrations.

The Maungaraki Warriors played Muritai in a thrilling final that played out all the way to the end. The score line was tight and both teams were evenly matched. Throughout the game both teams would take the turn to lead which kept all the parents on the edge of their seats! Maungaraki's great defence and ability to score kept them in the game in the last few minutes. In the end Maungaraki was able to score two last buckets to take the game 14-11. Well done team!

Maungaraki Heat played their final on Friday for 3rd & 4th place. They played an energetic Koraunui Rockets and it was a physical encounter. Maungaraki had slick passing and it was so good to see them sharing the ball. On defence they were a wall of orange with their hands up high over the ball. Maungaraki won the game and it was a great way to finish the term. Ruby, Sanchit, Brody, Liam, Jagger, Sam and Eli are such a fun team to watch. They love scoring goals and giving each other high 5's!

A huge thank you to all of our coaches this season! We couldn't do this without your support and enthusiasm, and all of your hard work is appreciated by the students, parents, and school alike.

STUDENT CELEBRATIONS

Mackenzie Gwerder and Alvaro Grave-Medrano represented the Lower Hutt Primary Schools Sports Association (LHPSSA) at the Regional Cross Country event which took place at Queen Elizabeth Park on July 2nd last term. 

Mackenzie came 23rd in the Year 4 girls race and Alvaro came 25th in the Year 5 boys race. Well done to both of you! You did Maungaraki School and the LHPSSA incredibly proud!
