HARD SURFACES

Shane Robinson —

Looking amazing

We have finally finished the first phase of the Hard Surface Project. This project has made an amazing difference to our school and the final product looks incredible. The turf and matting, along with two huge shade areas and picnic tables has really made the courts a focal point of Maungaraki School. The project has provided a range of areas for children to use, from eating to basketball, from hopscotch to handball. They are loving it!

Without the help of our community and some very special hard working people over the years, this project would never have happened. The Home & School committee has played a massive role in making this happen. Their tireless organisation of events and support of the school have been the driving force behind this project. We would like to acknowledge and thank them for all of this work. Thank you to past and present home and school members - you can be extremely proud of the legacy you have left. ALL OF THE HARD WORK HAS FINALLY COME TO FRUITION.

A big thank you to all of you! The community support of each of the fundraising efforts over the years has been second to none. Our families and children have worked hard to complete a number of fundraising events. It has been a long project and the patience shown has been something the school is very grateful for.

Finally, thank you to the Board of Trustees. The Board has been working on getting this project complete since well before my time. From talking to planners, arranging ground works, drawing up plans to long meetings with the Ministry of Education, their efforts and contribution to this space can not be underestimated. As a result of all of this hard work we now have a space which I am sure we can all be proud of. It is an amazing resource for our children and the wider community.

Over the next year more will be added to the space in terms of wind breaks and decks. This will add even more to the space.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. As the saying goes...He aha te mea nui o te ao. He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata - What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.

Enjoy the new surface over the holidays. We have cameras installed and extra protection in place, however please do keep us informed of any unusual behaviour should you see any.

Nga Mihi Nui,
