SOUTH WEST ZONE

On the 13th of November Maungaraki School had more than 60 students competing at the South West Zones athletics event at Hutt Rec. It was a pretty chilly and blustery day, but everyone had a fatastic time and we came away with some incredible results - a South West Zone Year 8 boys high jump record of 1.45m from Sheldyne, 6 relay teams qualifying for Interzones, and several other Personal bests!

Congratulations to the following people who qualified for Interzones: Olivia Turner, Quinn Tipoki, Josh Gough, Toby Browne, Juliet Berry, Hannah Gibbs, Charlie Edhouse, Briallen Aberhart, Madison Herapath, Sam Leonard, Cooper Burt, Cole Gwerder, Sophia Berry, Mia Burt, Celine Carillo, Sophie Papps, Harrison Sneddon, Boston Perez-Peleti, Clay Wills, Lara Fiddis, Dishab Reddy, Caylan Banks, Jake Turner, Kassidy Brown, Priy Patel, Rex Bentley, Samantha Brill, Amy Martell, Imogen Roxburgh, Ava Keane, Omar Tibbot, Jacob McHugh, Jake Sarginson, Sheldyne Ronquest, Leighton Carter, and Jacob Gibbs.Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers for assisting us, and thank you to Mrs Prichard and Mrs Andis for being the teachers in charge on the day!

INTERZONE

On Tuesday 19th November Maungaraki School had a great group of athletes compete at the Interzone Athletics competition at Hutt Rec.  It was a fantastic day and all students represented the school with pride.

Congratulations to the following who have qualified for the Regional Athletics competition at Newtown Park on the 3rd of December:
Olivia Turner - Year 4 girls quoits and long jump
Leighton Carter - Year 8 boys shot put
Kassidy Brown - Year 7 boys shot put
Sam Leonard - Year 5 boys 150m sprint
Priya Patel - Year 7 girls vortex
Celine Carillo - Year 6 girls quoits
Samantha Brill - Year 8 girls long jump

We also have Mia Burt (150m), Leighton Carter (discus), Cole Gwerder (800m), and Madison Herapath (quoits) lined up as reserves in case other athletes are unavailable. Good luck to everyone competing next week!

TOUCH RUGBY

The Maungaraki Marvels Year 5 & 6 touch rugby team played in the Total Touch Christmas Tournament last Sunday and had a fantastic day winning 6 games from 6 and their whole division!  The team only conceded one try all tournament! 

Congratulations to Lachie Krushka, Sophie Papps, Lachlan Meehan, Lachlan Brill, Alex Briscoe, Casey Hurley, Mia Burt, Jed Leonard, Cooper Burt, and Sam Leonard, and the coach, Richard Papps.
