SWIMMING

Well done to all those children who competed in Swimming Sports yesterday! We had a great group of children that tried their best and supported their peers as well. Huge thanks to the Sport and House Leaders that helped make sure the day ran smoothly. Those who qualified for InterZone Swimming will be notified early next term.

REGIONAL CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to Layne, Brody, Tom, Nikheel and Adam who competed at the Regional Cross Country champs.

Well done to Adam Larkin who came first in the year 7 boys and made the Wellington Team. Brody Milburn came 11th in the year 6 boys and is first reserve for the Wellington team.

BASKETBALL

Year 7&8 Timberwolves - they lost a tight final 14 to 12 against Naenae. Last time they played them they lost by a huge margin. This time the defence was really strong and some great shots too. Was like watching a different team. Each and every player gave their absolute best and they were working so much better as a team.

Year 7&8 Spurs - this team won their final 33 to 31 in golden point against Hutt Intermediate. Great progress was made throughout the season.

Year 5&6 Heat - the improvement in the team was amazing from the beginning to the end of the season. Not only that but I would also say that each player improved individually on their own skill sets and hopefully they continue to play. They ended up winning the grade in a very exciting final – winning 12-10 in what was a massive effort.

Year 5&6 Warriors - an awesome season in a competitive grade where they ended up coming 3rd. Lots of things to work on but made heaps of progress throughout the season.

A big thank you to the coaches and parents who make basketball thrive at Maungaraki School.
