PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Welcome back to an exciting term here at Maungaraki School

Kia ora e te whānau,

We have a full term planned with some wonderful learning opportunities for our students.  The culmination of this term will be a Science Showcase to show off our wonderful work.  Stay tuned to find out more about this event in the next newsletter.

Our term started early on Monday morning with the opening of our brand new classroom.  This room was announced by the Ministry of Education in the middle of last year and it is fantastic to see it ready to be used by our children.  The room will be used by Mrs Webby's class for the rest of the year and they are loving their new space.

As well as this new space our Library has been converted into new learning areas.  These new classrooms look fantastic and have a wide range of breakout spaces for our students to work in.  The Year 7 & 8 hub have moved into theses rooms.  The school Library is currently being set up in Room 4.  This is where it will be running until the end of the year and should be all ready to go in week 3. We also have some roll growth classrooms opening in Rooms 11 & 12.

It has certainly been a time of growth and change up here on the hill.   As with any change, it takes some time to settle.  So although the main part of the building work is complete we do still have a lot of work to do.  This includes reinstating our beautiful fields and grounds.  We are confident that this development should be a huge asset to the Maungaraki community for years to come.

I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our Board of Trustees and Staff over the last 12 months.  It has been a huge effort to get these projects finished and their hard work is a testament to our community.  I would also like you to thank you for your support and patience during this process.

Until next time, be your best.

No riera, kia kaha ra,
Nga Mihi Nui.
