2020 School Structure

Kia ora e te whānau,

This year has been another year of development at Maungaraki School.  Our growth along with community consultation have played a large part in the school direction and make up as we head into 2020.  We are really excited to share some of our thoughts on the schools possible Vision and Values over the next two weeks.  As a School we believe in teachers and students supporting each other, collaborating with one another and working together.  This core belief has led to us creating four teams across our school.

The Junior School will run from Year 0 to Year 2 and be led by Trish Cherry

The Middle School will run from Year 3 to Year 4 and be led by Chris Cowman

The Senior School will run from Year 5 to Year 6 and be led by Hazel Andis

The Intermediate School will run from Year 7 to Year 8 and be led by Ben Young

Staff Changes

We have had a few staff changes for 2020. We have made one new teaching appointment and are in the process of making our final appointment in the next week as we finalise our Staff.

A huge Congratulations to Natalie Moore who has accepted the job as Assistant Principal of Normandale School for 2020.  Natalie has made a significant contribution to Maungaraki School over her time here as a Team Leader. From leading the arts and creating stunning environments, to her passion for our wellbeing at Maungaraki, right through to leading the junior team expertly in so many ways - she will be a huge asset to Normandale and we wish her all the best.  I am sure you will join me in Congratulating Natalie on her new role.

Teacher Appointments

We have appointed Kayleigh Maclean to a Scale A position. Kayleigh has been teaching in Porirua for the last year and brings with her passions of music and the outdoors.

I’m sure you will show Kayleigh a huge Maungaraki welcome in 2020.

Team Leader Appointments

In 2020 Chris Cowman, Ben Young, Trish Cherry and Hazel Andis will all lead teams across the school.

Class Placements

We are currently in the midst of looking at class placements for 2020. Staff look at a wide range of factors to make classrooms lists that best suit the learning and social needs of your children. If you do have something extra that you would like to be taken into consideration as we look at these lists please contact me directly at principal@maungarakischool.net, alternatively call the office to make an appointment to come and see me.

Please see the attached document which has teacher placement and a classroom map for 2019.

As always, if you have any questions about this please contact me.

Until next time, be your best!

Nga Mihi Nui,
Shane Robinson
