PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

EOTC week is coming up

Kia ora e te whānau,

I hope you are keeping well as the holiday season approaches.

This is a time of the year that can put pressures on all of us.  Please do take some extra time with your children over the next few weeks as the end of the year can be both tiring and cause some anxiety.  We have a plethora of activities planned and EOTC week is next week with our students heading beyond the gate to do some learning.

The sun has been out and our children have been enjoying some sports.  I know Mrs Pollard-Smith has a full sports report later in this newsletter but it has been great to see the development of our students through the Football Programme.  We have also had success in the field of athletics and held a successful Junior Athletics day.

This week we were visited by Meng Foon the Race Relations Commissioner.  Meng was really keen on hearing about the work that the school and its students have been doing around anti bullying and wellbeing.  We discussed the KiVa programme and popped into some classrooms to talk to students.

While Meng was speaking to our students I was reminded of just how thoughtful and polite they are.  They all spoke about the importance of kindness and were able to outline the key factors in the KiVa programme which were helping them.  Our visitors were blown away and very complimentary of the work these children shared.

Keep up the great work Maungaraki!

Nga Mihi Nui,

Shane Robinson
