Week 6

NON STOP CRICKET

On Tuesday a Year 5/6 team took on other local schools in the LHPSSA non-stop cricket tournament. A late call up, the team did an amazing job and participated with enthusiasm and pride. Special mention to Mackenzie Gwerder who received an individual nomination for showing great spirit and sportsmanship at the event. She received a free swim pass for her efforts! Well done to the whole team.

MAUNGARAKI MATHS EVENING - BANGERS & MATHS

You are invited to our upcoming “Bangers and Maths” Family Evening. This will be an evening of information, fun, challenge and learning about how we teach maths at Maungaraki School. Come and hear from our Maths Advisor Julie Roberts and the School Team about maths at Maungaraki School. Following this there will be an opportunity to see maths in action as children will share with you some knowledge based maths games.

Who: Children and Parents/Caregivers
When: Week 8, Tuesday 23 March, 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Where: School Hall
Details:
5:30pm - 6:00pm: Sausage in bread outside the hall.
6:00pm - 6:30pm: An introduction to Maungaraki Maths with Julie Roberts and the Maths Team.
6:30pm - 7:30pm Showcase of maths in classrooms (children led).

Before you leave remember to collect your Maths Activity Pack full of fun maths games and activities for the whole family.

CALLING OUR WEETBIX TRYATHLON PARTICIPANTS

If you child is involved in the upcoming Weetbix Try at the Hutt Recreation Ground on Wednesday 17th March, please make sure you look out for our marquee and orange school banner, this will be set up in the middle of the field. This is our meeting place, a place to put your bags down and a place to hang out in before and after your event.  There is usually a school photo taken after all the presentations.

Just a reminder, you will need to let the school office know of your child's absence on the day. This is always such a fun event, inclusive of all children and their needs. Parents are responsible for their children for the whole event - please make sure you read the information pack that the Tryathlon has sent out in the last few days. Have a great day, go Maungaraki!

EASTER RAFFLE

As part of our fundraising for the year we are having an Easter Raffle. Items for the raffle have been donated by the Tipu Syndicate - thank you very much. Raffle tickets will be sent home on Monday for you to sell. Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5. Money for the tickets and completed raffle tickets can be put in the letterbox in the office. If you require additional raffle tickets, these can be obtained from Nicola Prichard in Room 14. All money and tickets need to be returned by Friday 26th March ready for the draw on Wednesday.
