GO CART

On your marks, get set... GO KART!

As part of our inquiry into transportation this term, we are running an optional Go Kart making competition. This is an opportunity for students to work with their whānau and/or friends outside of school to design and build their own Go Kart.

We will be hosting a showcase of completed Go Karts at 2pm on Thursday Week 8 (15th June), where students and whānau will be able to show off their creations and ride them around the bike track. We strongly encourage the use of recycled materials where possible. The Go Karts must have 3 or more wheels and be human-powered; no motors etc.

We look forward to seeing all of your amazing vehicle creations!

CONTACT DETAILS

We need to hold up to date contact details for all of our parents and caregivers. If your details have changed, please let the office know so we can update them.

In the unlikely event of an emergency we will try to contact our school community via text & email. If you receive a message from the school that we have implemented our family reunification process, this means that we will only release students in a controlled fashion to people who have been authorised by parents to collect their children. Please ensure the list of people authorised to collect your children from the school is kept up to date and includes people who live within walking distance of the school.

SPARE CLOTHES

With the cold and wet weather becoming more frequent, we get many children falling over and getting wet and dirty. We do hold some spare clothes, however we don't have clothes to suit all children. Please put some spare clothes in your child's bag to ensure when this happens they have something dry to wear.

ASBESTOS

During our recent renovations we have discovered asbestos in need of removal. In its current state it is isolated and of no danger to staff and students. However it is important that we remedy this as soon as possible. The school has completed a full asbestos management plan. As part of this plan, over the next month, asbestos will be safely removed from areas in the admin block. The removal will take place during the weekend by a certified removal specialist. You may notice some additional fencing at the front of the school while this is taking place. If you have any further questions please contact me at principal@maungaraki.school.nz
