PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Look forward to having you back on site

Kia ora e te whānau,

Term 3 continues up here on the hill at Level 2. Thank you for you patience during this time, we really appreciate your continued support.

It has been very windy here at school the past fortnight. Please ensure that your children bring warm clothes as it can get very cold in the breeze. We do have a large collection of jackets and jerseys piling up in the lost property. If you do have a chance and think you are missing something please swing by the office and have a look.

This weekend we have our Home and School photo fundraiser on at school. Thank you to the families that are supporting this fundraiser. The Home and School is an integral part of our school and your support during these extremely difficult times is something we are very grateful for.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff here at Maungaraki School. They have been amazing through 2020 and often the work they do is unseen. The additional effort they are putting in with children is immense at the moment. Throughout the year they have expertly dealt with and managed situations carefully so that children are kept at the focus. I would like to acknowledge this skilful and often unseen work which has helped your children over this period. They have carried out their role during this complex time with poise and professionalism and we should be extremely proud of them.

We are lucky enough to have Heather Dodge working in the school for the remainder of the year. Heather is a trained teacher who specialises in the area of children's wellbeing. Heather will be working with some small groups of students with the aim of giving our students some extra tools to deal with difficult situations. As parents you will be informed should your child be working with Heather. Please do feel free to contact me if you have any questions around this or would like to hear more about this programme.

We are really looking forward to having you all back on site when we are back at Level 1. So much of what we do has had to be postponed and we are really looking forward to getting back to some more face to face connections. We do apologize for the delay of so many of our school wide events, we are really hopeful that term 4 will allow us to come together more as a community.

Until next time, be your best!

Nga Mihi Nui,
