COMMUNITY GARDEN

Maungaraki School —

ENVIRO UPDATE

Our Community Garden is well planted heading into the holiday season. We have harvested our first broccoli, and we have planted all of the leftover plants from the Koru Science fair.  Tim our Caretaker has installed two large rainwater tanks that will help us to be more sustainable with watering the garden, as well as adding to the emergency water storage for the community.

A big thank you to Tim for the design and construction of the garden, Hutt Mana Trust for the grant that allowed us to build the garden and buy the tanks, soil, fittings and plants. Bunnings has helped with supplying some of the wood for the construction of the raised gardens, and a big thanks to our gardening group for planting and watering the plants!

Our last Enviro project for the year is Stationery Savers. We are collecting any unwanted used or new stationery, (including exercise books with a few used pages). Our Enviro team will clean them up and have them ready for any child that needs them during the year. Our dropbox is in Room 9's porch, and will also be available on the pop in day at the beginning of next year.
